After uncooperative weather postponed the Mummers Mardi Gras for one week, the organizers and event planners are extremely proud to announce a successful event with the great Mummers string bands. The parade took place on Saturday, February 28, and more than 5,000 residents and spectators made the trip to Main Street in Manayunk in an effort to support the Mummers.

With Mardi Gras underway in New Orleans, the city of Philadelphia is preparing their own celebration with the renowned Mummers string bands. In a parade through Manayunk on Sunday, February 22, 2015, the event is family-friendly and will feature numerous activities for those attending to interact and socialize with their favorite Philly Mummers.

To keep the Mummers tradition alive in the city of Philadelphia, ADVENT organized a Mardi Gras celebration in 2014 that included performances by various brigades and string bands. The event has shifted from Philadelphia to Manayunk for 2015, but the spirit and inspiration has not waned. Putting the finishing touches on the event's organization, Mummers Mardi Gras is set for a February 22 celebration; parading from 10 am until noon. If the city is faced with inclement weather, the rain date is Saturday, February 28 at the same time.

Officials of the Manayunk Development Corporation (MDC), ADVENT, the Philadelphia Mummers Association, and U.S. Congressman Robert A. Brady announced that the Philadelphia Mummers Mardi Gras Parade is scheduled for Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 10 am until 12 noon along the length of Manayunk's famous Main Street retail and restaurant corridor. This family-focused celebration of the music and pageantry of the Mummers was conceived as a means to keep Philadelphia's renowned Mummers' tradition alive and well.

In an effort to raise funds and garner support for the Philadelphia Mummers, ADVENT recently established the 2015 date for the second annual Mummers Mardi Gras. Transitioning from The Piazza at Schmidt’s in Northern Liberties for 2014 to Main Street in Manayunk, the highly anticipated event has been set for Sunday, February 22, 2015. Mummers Mardi Gras will be an all-day event, beginning with a parade down Main Street highlighting all participating Mummers clubs.

Established through the efforts of ADVENT to help raise funds and awareness for the various string bands of the Philadelphia Mummers, Mummers Mardi Gras is excited to announce the 2015 location for their second annual event. ADVENT has met with the Manayunk Development Corporation and their board (responsible for the Manayunk Arts Festival, StrEat Food Festival, and more) to bring Mummers Mardi Gras from The Piazza at Schmidts in Northern Liberties to the festival centric Main Street Manayunk.

Celebrating 20 years of Mummers Brigade Weekend, many brigades took part in the Wildwood block party festivities on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14. Mummers’ fans were treated to a parade down Olde New Jersey Avenue where they took in the sights and sounds of costumes, pageantry, music, and dancing. As the weekend featured some of the most renowned brigades from the New Year’s Day parade, the team from ADVENT who produces Mummers Mardi Gras was on hand to scout sects for upcoming Mardi Gras festivities.
