Do you know a Veteran? Veterans don't walk around wearing medals, or brag about what they have experienced. They live among us quiet heroes making the world a better place. Often these men and women aren't thanked enough, aren't honored enough, and aren't respected enough. Every Veteran has their own story. You can't see what they've seen, know what they know, or understand the impact and effects of war, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression. So how do you know when one needs help? According to the Veterans Administration 22 Veterans commit suicide daily.

BusiNeighbor, Inc. has launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for a Veterans Recreation Center in Stone Mountain, GA. The center will provide activities and much needed relief for those struggling with mental illness.

While extraordinary progress has been made in treating childhood leukemia and other pediatric cancers in recent years, childhood cancers are the number 1 disease killer of US kids, taking more children lives every year than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, asthma and AIDS combined. Nearly 100k children die annually. BusiNeighbor Inc. is hosting a fundraising event titled Be a Hero Today to raise funds and awareness to help children across the U.S. with leukemia, the most common cancer in children and adolescents less than 20 years old.

BusiNeighbor Inc. is one of the 1,700 organizations that participated in Georgia Gives Day, the online fundraiser, which was launched by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits. Georgia Gives Day empowers nonprofits to fund their missions by giving them a free platform, BusiNeighbor Inc.’s platform is diapers in a campaign titled “Be a voice for Babies.”

Diapers are a basic necessity for a child and play a key role in a baby’s health and well-being but diapers are expensive. According to the Real Diaper Association, a child will use approximately 2,000 diapers up to the age of two; this equates to around $1,200.00 to $2,400.00 annually and has parents taking risky measures to stretch their diaper supply.

Local volunteer Charmelle Scott partners with Killian Hall to bring awareness to blood cancers and doing her part to raise funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) in an artistic effort with local bakers in the Gwinnett Area.
